Attention Varmit Hunters!!!

25 lb hemi engine that runs....

Well what do you expect from a hybrid? Its not a true diesel-electric as they would lead you to beleive. Although I cant slam them for trying. The ideas will just improve over time. Look at the Toyota Prius.

True diesel-electrics are like locomotives. Diesel engine spins the generator and supplies juice to axle-hung motors. No batteries except for the ones used to start the diesel. Sure locomotives look like they should guzzle fuel, but they happen to be the most efficient land-transport mode out there as far as ton-miles hauled. Its just they cant build a siding to every door. LOL So the rubber-tire fellas have to help out.

Sorry the Toyota Prius is worthless. Too many electronics. Have you looks at how complicated that thing is and how hard it is to work on Geez!!! You get to pay 3k more in the beginning, batteries can only last 7-10 years, all the extra parts needing to be replaced later on. And on the highway they don't even get the mileage as advertised. I'd rather have a less complicated VW diesel Golf or something

I'm all for alternate, but it seems those idiots spent alot of cash, and gained less than zero advanatge.

I have no doubt, the decision makers, were looking through rose colored glasses, their goal was a warm fuzzy feeling, with no real world results.

Read it this way ... I'm sure some of relatives/friends of the "decision makers" who were involved in the contract are crying all the way to the bank about the low MPG.

You know ... over a hundred years ago there was a nice little setup to move people around the city that didn't put out emisions (within the city that is) when it tirelessly went on it way moving people to and from their destinations ... trollies were very efficient and clean. Maybe they can bring them back ... oh man, what was I thinking that would make waaaaaay to much sense.

LMAO... . I thought the same thing after I posted, but what the heck, couldnt think of anything else right off hand. I was looking at Prius for a new vehicle, but the price is wrong... . too much for what the car delivers, and like you said, way too much electronic gadgetry. It did drive and ride nice though, thats about it. :-laf :-laf :-laf Now looking at Mazdas and Corollas. About the only thing out there that has 5-speeds as options and nice *performance* packages. Did try out the SRT-4, blast to drive, but lack of space. Diesels are too expensive at the moment.
