Does anyone have any idea what exact wheel/ tire size combo this is and the amount of lift? 35's or 37's on 20's with a 4, 5, or 6 inch lift? This is the setup I want!!! This was at SEMA 2005 for any of you that went and might have some better insight? This is the nicest and cleanest setup I have seen yet.

you know what the saddest part of that picture is... ... that after SEMA is done... that truck hits the compactor! I cant stand the SEMA show for that reason! almost all those vehicles they modify are donated by the auto maker... they cant sell a modified auto due to insurace reasons, so the manufacter tosses the truck in a compacter... . :{

I'm sorry Alpha but that was a truck from the local car dealer TOWBIN dodge in vegas and they had Four wheel parts install their lifts for them and was back on the lot on Saturday morning after the show. If you notice the tube steps on the truck are made by a company Tech tubes or something like that. They were demo ing their product with five girls standing on them to show how strong they were. It is a 6" with you guessed it 37" on 20" It was a 6 sp if I remember right. The thing I didn't care for was that 70% of the wheel was outside the body of the truck. Even with flairs you could not cover it.

Yea, I'm seeing more and more dealers selling lifted and modified autos. Reason being that don't sell them in mass, just one here and there, and they jack up the price so much that it can easily cost any types of things that "may" go wrong during the warranty. With the hundreds of papers they make you sign, it's easy for them to throw a, "I understand I'm buying a lifted vehicle with different driving characteristics and take full responsibility. " page in there.

I worked for a show production company. I was at the warehouse when 10 pre-production SRT-10's arrive back from some show in Texas, just to turn around to be compacted... Made me sick to know $500,000 worth of trucks are going to be trashed. And they wouldn't even let met burn the rest of the rubber of the tires! (they had plenty of parking lots space to do this too!!!)

That is sickening!!!! And you wonder why auto makers are loosing Money! they should auction off those "pre-production" vehicles. Auto enthusiasts with more money than brains would buy them for 2-3 times what they actually cost just because they are pre-production and would be VERY rare. Same goes for all the trucks SEMA puts in compactors after the show is done, makes me sick even thinking about it. They could make a killing on auctioning them off. I just dont get it.

Glad to see that the Mega-Cab pictured above made it out of SEMA alive and well and "dodged" the compactor... . :-laf

Defending one lawsuit resulting from an incident with one of those pre-production trucks will cost more than the money they would make on selling the vehicles. Pre-production vehicles are exactly that. They are not intended to be sold to the public. Pre-production vehicles are used to find potential problems before full production so they may be corrected ahead of time.

companies who receive trucks from the manufactories are offered the chance to buy the truck. I use to write for www.4x44u.com and we built a chevy avalanche and we bought the truck when the one year period was over. Another truck we built we did not buy and it was scraped. We stripped that thing bear before the truck came. So not all go to the scrap yard. But you also sign a waver releasing the manufacture from liability

Those look like 37s and Nitto Terra Mud Grapplers... ...

Back in the 70's and 80's, I worked in Hollywood at several studios. I remember the truck from the "Fall Guy" It was something like a 81-85 GMC that was lifted and alot of other stuff. I knew that they had one just for the jumps. I wanted that truck so bad, I went out and bought one! Then only to find out that the studio had several ones just like it that were donated by GMC and had to be returned to the Mfg after filming, to be crushed. The same went for the show "Hardcastle and McCormick". They had a few really sweet Chevys and GMC's on that show that also got crushed. I also remember another company that got alot of "damaged" cars that were used to fall off bridges, blow up, etc. Kinda made me sick! I remember a really nice BMW 735 that got burned! It was a car that had less than 100 miles on it and had some water damage from a flood. The car ran perfect and they blew that sucker up on a movie! Ya gotta love Hollywood! :-laf :eek: The same went for the "General Lee" Back during the Dukes of Hazzard days, you couldn't foind a used 68-70 Charger anywhere in the LA area for sale! They were all bought by the studio and painted orange. Each episode went through quite a few cars! Such a waste! :--)

I would guess that the wheels are a 20x10 with 4. 5" backspace. Looks like a Chinese made Pro Comp cast wheel. Not to safe on a CTD equipped Mega Cab. I remember it being a 5 inch Superlift with 37 inch Nitto Mud Grapplers. If you look real close, you can see how much tire and wheel is sticking out from the fender. With a 37 inch tire, it will hit the wheel well opening at the bottom by the door. That is guaranteed! I have calls every day about this issue and how to fix it. Even a 35 inch tall tire will cause the same issue. It isn't the tire, it is the backspacing. It would need to be around 6 inch to clear a huge tire. Then fender trimming might need to be done too.

I too remember that show, did you know the "jump trucks" had the motor mounted under the seat? There was a big write up in a 4x4 magazine back then and was real interesting what all they did to keep its nose up. many of the jump trucks were destroyed in a single jump. . what a shame but fun to watch as a kid.
