I know a member that just went to the dark side (bought 6. 4, ford 4x4, 1 ton ,drw, crew cab, 8ft bed). Said pulling his boat he's getting 11 mpg, running empty 16-17 mpg.
The best way to increase your fuel mileage is to lie about it.
Try lying to your pocketbook. That's the catch.
It makes ford people feel better when they lie to Dodge/Cummins owners. My brother-in-law has alway done that about all the fords he's had. Speaking of brother-in-law, he just bought a ferd 6. 4 powerjoke. I couldn't convince him on a Dodge/Cummins. His ferd dealer told him that the new 6. 4 was the best engine on the planet and that he should get 18 mpg pulling his 30' ForestRiver 5er.
So, who drank more of the bong water? The dealer, or your BIL for buying the line and the 'Joke?
I figure they would get better as technology improved---my 2001 7. 3 gets no better than 10-12 how hard i drive it 70%city/30%highway,loaded most of the time to the nuts with stacks of bread(ave 850miles/week). We must of got a good one in Fords eyes cause i just hit 205000 miles on it last week---original injectors/turbo/no major internal yet,but is getting tired----to bad it only took 11 of these same trucks to make it this far. New trucks are being talked about and it looks like the bean counters at work will buy the Ford again(god help me). There is a reason why i have a CUMMINS in my garage for hauling, even though i"v logged about 500000 miles on Ford 7. 3's,hope the 6. 4 are better---my 2 cents.
