Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) nightmare headgasket swap.

blew it had to wait 9 days for parts to get here. pull it off and there is pitting on the surphace of my head now. i have an oringed head and now have to find out what the icelandic machine shops can do if anything. so i put it back together as is until i can see what they can do.



well the #6 exh pushrod wasnt seated in the rocker arm properly. it stayed together for the turning over by hand part then it let loose when i started and broke. spent all day driving around in a rental car talking to anyone that would listen trying to find a replacment. icelanders dont work on saturdays. frustrating fact i didnt know. talked to a guy and he knew a guy whos brother's cousin's dad had a broke down generator and the guy gave me one out of it. good deal there.



get it back in there warm up the truck for the second torque, let it cool down #2 head bolt closest to the exh manifold broke, but darndest thing is that it broke but it stayed connected in the center! so i got to back it out as one piece! so new bolts new headgasket being ordered monday,,,,,,fun stuff.

NB - Have you noticed a little black cloud following you around? I mean over your head, not out your tailpipe. Do you have a heated garage to work in? Our thoughts are with you.

i think the cloud is grey..... i mean



the headgasket blew but

it didnt mix water and oil at all.



the push rod broke but,,,,,,

it only broke the top off and didnt mess anything else up. truck sounded like an air compressor and a guy touchin off rounds with a pistol though. exh valve stuck shut. could that have done damage some where else and i am just not noticing it?



the head bolt broke but,,,,

it snapped but didnt break into two peices. so i didnt have to fish out the other half out of my block.



i dont know what to say, so i am stinking with thank you for not being as bad as it could have been. and my truck has pretty much become the hobby shop queen. yeah the shop isnt that bad. its inside and warm. but the exhaust hose dont fit over my tailpipe



now i have no rental car anymore and i am down one head bolt. can i drive it with the wastegate set to like 10psi? i have to get the new stuff out in town. or will i ruin somethin?



other than those two questions. i thought you people may find that interesting. taker easy

i am doin mp type work for the navy. there is an airstation over here. or working on my truck/breaking as of late. nothing i can complain about. i have one year left of this free living to get my truck where i want it, so i can bring it back worthy of the

pacnor west..... you gotta have a pretty healthy rig to play with them up there, but im gonna try

where were you at if you did?



today i had to go to the machine shop to ask about my head and on the way back my intercooler hose that hooks to the turbo blew off. i then went about stripping the nut..... so i put a zip tie thru it to hold it there sorta... ... well 6 stops and 4 hours later i finanly found a place with the nut i needed. when it rains it pours.
