Competition 24v head interchange

Competition Some input

A friend of mine has a 01chev25004x4 with a 496cuin bored out to a 515 cuin with nascar porting, whipple supercharger, and a lot more however he was planning on mixing some high grade Nitro Methane into his water meth injection releasing more power.

Has anyone ever tried this on a diesel, I run 30% Methanol to water in my truck I was considering adding 2-5 % nitro methane to the mix. It will either work or detroy my engine, any ideas.

Thanks Bret.

PDR Twins, O-ring on the way.

Yes, well kinda. It wasn't a good experience as I apparently already blew the head gasket before the nitro-methanol/water injection. It really boosted the power, but when I stopped it was pouring oil out the head gasket. If you're planning on a new head gasket soon and maybe a new head like I now have, give it a try. I mixed 60% water and 40% methanol that had 20% nitro in it.

Interesting, I'm planning on taking the truck to Piers in a month or so for some head work, and another turbo(twins) once the head is seated I'll probably give it a try starting at about 2-5% nitro methane, 25-27 % methanol, 60% water. The LEL for nitro methane is 7. 4 % so I would anticipate that over 7. 4 % is a danger area but would have great power gains if one could contain it - I probably won't attempt greater than 5-6 % without some more research.

nitro is some nasty stuff...

on gas engines it makes the crankshaft all dirty with road grime... .

because its usually left lying in the middle of the road. .

nitro will be more susceptable to high cyl temps. .
