I need some ideas on where to mount a nitrous bottle in a reg cab truck. I saw Stefan's but I want mine to be a lil more subtle then his :D

I have a speaker box with 3 10" subs behind the seat at the moment.

Kat,

I'm working with the same problem right now. I'd like to convert my center seat to a box containing the 'gas' and keep the seat on top for the girlfriend, but I'm not sure if there's room. I definately want to keep the seat. I'll let you know what I do this weekend.

-Chris

Thats my problem, my girlfriend likes to sit there from time to time otherwise i would have already yanked it out. Thats one reason I would rather not stick a 12" sub in there as well... . would make the seat uncomfortable.

So I brainstorming different options. I might end up having to put it in a box in the bed, but then I must buy a bottle heater too... ...

Let me know what you come up with.

Nitrous Express bottle sizes :

2. 5lb... 14" long 3. 50" diameter

5lb... ... 18" long 5. 25" diameter

10lb... . 20" long 6. 75" diameter

15lb... . 28" long 6. 75" diameter

As far as I know you just gotta vent it to the outside if you mount it in cab? But for space reasons I might end up having to put it in the bed of the truck, then I'll have to buy a heater and remote opener.

Racing Air/Instant Boost

The main thing is to get the proper flare fitting for the remote discharge tube and punch a hole in the floor to run the tube through.

Know this: Most tech guys aren't going to spot your bottle within the cab. They just don't know what to make of a diesel pick up, so they are going to give you a quick once over and wave you through. Just cover the bottle with a fender cover or whatever is handy. You can get away without the remote discharge for quite a while.

Kat, I would plan on doing a bottle heater even if you put it inside the cab. My bottle is in the trunk of my car. It was 65* at the track this weekend and with the trunk open and the sun on the bottle I still needed to turn the heater on sometimes.

The PSI makes a real difference. Last weekend on the Dyno I made a pull at 900psi bottle presure. . 398hp. Heated the bottle up(not gonna say how wasn't safe lol) to 1100psi and got 430HP. So you can say its good to keep it warm :D. I bought a bottle heater after finding that out lol.

And don't forget there is a siphon tube in the bottle so it really needs to be mounted front to back and with the valve handle up with the front of the bottle higher than the back. NX uses some pretty nice brackets. The brackets from NOS are junk plastic

was this on your truck or your car?

the reason i ask is becuase jetting n20 on a gasser has got to be close. so if you jet your fuel and n20 for 5psi of fp and 900psi n20, if you raise your n20 to 1100psi your motor will be very lean. i just wanted to make people aware of this if they try this on there gassers.

kat

are your subs all connected behind the seat? maybe you can take one out on race day. a 2. 5lb bottle will fit fine behind your seat. it might even fit under the passenger seat.

Yes all the subs are in one singe box... . its all or nuthing :D

I'm looking to add a bigger bottle then 2. 5 lb ..... would run out toooo quick with the way I play around.

I just gotta get creative is all..... kinda hard to do without having the bottle (or bottles) here to play with physically.

What size bottle do you run? How long does it last you?

i have a ten# bottle the short and fat type. i would say on the dragstrip a 10# bottle will give you 6-10 full blown passes at a 100hp. you will probably get more than that, i haven't spent a day at the track yet. i helped a fellow tdr member this weekend get his n20 on his truck and he damn near used up a bottle in 15min. for being an old guy he sure was all smiles.

Jim,

Those results were on my car. I had an air fuel meter hooked to it at the time also. The thing was so rich on the nitrous that it was off of the graph on Dynojets program. I heated the bottle up real good and it registered but I still need a smaller fuel jet... or a bigger juice jet. At 900psi it Looked like it was a diesel, shot two huge black clouds out the back.

Kat, if the short 10# bottles are to big you might be able to find an old style NOS bottle thats taller and thinner than the newer ones. You might be able to stand one of those up in the corner of the cab maybe?? Or get a Toolbox and put it in there, would be more stealth. Are you going to do the Nozzle like Jon did his? :D

you always go bigger n20 jet never smaller. :D

Kat,

If I were you I would put your bottle/s under your center seat. Run 3 x 2. 5lbs bottles. :D It'll look trick and out of sight. :D Then you can vent them outside the cab as I did and it'll be all legal.

If you get a set-up like that I would say that it'll make peoples :--) for sure. :D :D :D

P. S. I got pulled over a couple of weeks ago and the cop just said that the set-up that I run looked sweet. :D Then told me to have fun.

A friend of mine has a NX setup on his Suzuki Hayabusa(sp?). it has a 2. 5 lbs bottle. Its kinda cool football sized :). But It has a little bitty pop off that would be hard to find an external vent kit for I think. And I doubt the little bottles have a high volume siphon tube in them. After all they are made for stuff like motorcycles. His has a 40shot fogger right now. #18 jets lol TINY

Clark

FYI, the NX bottles all (2. 5#, 5#, 10#, 15#) use the same valve with the 3/8" siphon tube.

Also, since they all use the same valve, the blow off connector is the same and they all use the same blow-down tube.
