Thanks for the info Mark. Is it just me or does 2600lbs capacity for a basically stock tire size just doesn't seem to cut it for our trucks? You have to go to the 37" tire to get up to 3195lbs and they are all load range D.

The Cepek F-C II 33"x17 tire is rated at only 2600 pounds. They have a 35"x17 rated at 3000 and a 37"x17 rated at 3195lbs.

The Nitto 33" mentioned in this thread is published at 3195lbs but somebody who has them said they are really 3415 (per the load rating stamped on the sidewall of the tire).

I ordered these 295/70/17's about a month ago, and got lucky because somebody canceled an order, and I got theirs. They will be installed in the next couple days. I had a guy at discount look at the tires and he validated that the rating is actually 3415.

The only thing I am worried about is istalling them on the stock 7 1/2" rim. I hope they don't wear out in the center.

BTW - I got them for $735. 00 out the door.

Kirk your stock wheels are 8" wide unless you have the base ST truck with painted steel wheels. I think the ideal rim width for 285s is 8. 5" so they should fit just fine.

Does anyone know how the Nitto's have been holding up? I am just about ready to order some tires and trying to decide whether to buy another set of BFG ATs. Much better price on the Nittos, but if they are not lasting I'd rather spend the extra money.

These tires look like what I want, but I am also interested in how quick they wear. They seem almost too good to be true.

I have 26000 on mine with a lot of towing. They are softer than the BFGs or Goodyears, my experience, and perform much better in the rain. I'm guessing they'll go to 35k but I always replace tires before they look gone.

Just called Discount Tire, and they say the 295 Nitto's are on national backorder. Trying to find a 285/295 tire for this truck is proving to be quite a chore.

7-18-05 Nitto 295's came in today. There is a new shipment that has arrived so Barre is filling backorders. The guy said they did not have enough allotment to catch up with all the orders, but they shipped mine! Had them installed and so far I like them. Maybe 25 miles. Looks like a genuine Colorado truck now. Got home and air was low (about 42-45lbs, so I bumped everything up to 65 front, 55 rear. If ya want some, Discount may have gotten their share of this last shipment.

I think I will drive down to Dairy Queen for a blizzard and do a test drive at the higher pressure. At least that's the excuse I'm gonna use.
