Nitto 295 owners..please chime in!!

Okay, Ive searched and read all kinds of old posts regarding these tires, in this size. Any new comments on wear and performance?

My plan is a new set of 17x8 wheels with 5. 25BS. (close enough)

I called tire dealer today. . 175 ea. I figure good to go.

Then, the comment " You should go with a wider wheel, 8" will cause tire wear problems".

Tell me this is an over-cautious sales person. The Nitto site says rec is 8"-9. 5".

(Yo Tomeygun. . any problems on a stock 7. 5 wheel?)

So... anyones take on this is appreciated.

I Ran 295 nittos on my 93, i ran them on 7" wheels with no problem.

I had close to 30k on them when i sold it, and where wearing evenly, and rode good.

I just got the 285's and there great. i live the northeast and have been through two snow storms with them and no problem getting around. the best place to buy them is http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.com they have the best deal and free shipping also i got the 30,000 mile warranty. All the tire places near me wanted around $180 a tire. i got them for $145 shipped. i haven't had them long enough to see a majoring wearing problems. my best suggestion is to buy five and rotate them regularly for even wear, that is what i did. Also if you ever kill one, you have the back up.

I've got the Nitto 295's on the stock aluminum alloys (17x8) and have no wearing problems. Have 25k on the tires with about 50% tread left.

I've had my nitto 295's for about 9,000 miles now. The rubber seems pretty soft and it is a quiet riding tire. They appear to be wearing rather quickly and looks like I may have 50% tread left. I do live in a mountainous area and have lots of curvy roads. Over all a good tire and cheaper than the bf goods.

I have about 14000 on mine and I hope to get 20-25k out of them. Ride and traction for me have been great. I'll buy again when time to replace.

I see Goodyear has added a 285/70R17 with a load index of 121R in their new Wrangler SilentArmor model. No actual size yet but 285's should be close to 33" tire.



They are suppose to be even more quiet with better traction then their AT/S which has been a good tire for me in the past.

Firehunter- I called them today. . nice folks. . couldnt touch Discount Tires prices- even tried to get a package deal. . just couldnt compete for some reason.



Sure do like to hear they are quite... wouldnt want to interrupt my little girls siesta's in the back.

Matt- that sure is a good looking tire- I like the sidewall-I can see it with 1/8" of Armor All! I have never owned a Goodyear, but then again I have never owned a Dodge either. . I will investigate further.

Reading the latest TDR mag- it seems 285's dont change the speedo enough to warrant pinion factor change. This could be a key factor in my 285 vs 295 choice.



I am leaning towards the Nitto's, but, I am open minded. First Rounds On Me--

The 295 Nitto is one on my list for next purchase however the "actual" size will play a role in deciding. Many 285's are 32. 7 or better in OD and the 295 Nitto I think is 33. 07 so they are pretty close.

I'm running these on the stock aluminum rims. They are just big enough to keep the plastic center caps from sticking out. They are at 24,400 miles now and 8/32" tread left. They still are better than the new stock BFG's on wet pavement, but they are terrible in the snow, now that they are wore down. I've never had truck tires this vibration free before. They are excellent on the highway.
