2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Nitto vs. Revo vs BFG

I am in need of some new tires and I am considering the three brands. BFG AT, Bridgestome Dueller Revo and the Nitto Grappler. I ran the BFGs and they did ok, lasted about 2 years. I use the truck in the winter every weekend and drive on lots of wet, icy roads pulling my (small) snowmobile trailer. What's everyone thing??



Also, I am putting on the D25 (2. 5") springs with a rear add-a-leaf. Would 285's or 295's still look right with this lift?

You can put the 285's on a stock truck. That is the size I am currently running. I looked at many different brands to replace my OEM tires and went with Kumho Road Venture AT KL-78's off of TireRack.com. I have had these tires on for 10k, and am very happy with how they work in rain (Florida) and loose soil and only cost me just over a Ben Franklin per tire. I will find out how they work in snow when I get back from the Middle East in January. Kumho's are very good tires and are used a lot in Europe, are very well built and at the cost, almost can't argue with the value.

I've had very good luck with the Nitto Terra Grapplers. I have lived in Colorado for the last two years. I got 45K out out of them, they did seam to wear a little fast, but I did a lot of heavy towing at 85mph and hauling 5K in the bed. They did great for the first 30K in the snow and ice, but the last 15k they were not as good, but I was the only one still moving just didn't have the confidence in them to go rescue people anymore in the snow and ice.

My vote goes to toyo go with the best longer wearing and made better as far as ride and balence.

I ran through two sets of Revo's. 55k and 62k is what I got out of them. They are one of the best tires in the snow I think I have ever run. Imo they are one fo the best dry traction, wet traction and snow traction tires I have ever used. They do well off road as well. I never had any problem towing with them either. Though I only tow about 7k. The only place they dont shine is in the mud. Cant speak to the other tires as I have never run them.

From my experience w/BFGs - I had a set of Trail T/As on my 85, Toyota 4X4 LB (about 13 years back) they were great! When I tried to get another set for a 4-Runner I had between my Frd 150 & CTD the tread design was changed, so I went with the B-Stone Duellers - they were OK for the 150 & very light 4-Runner.

Now that that's out of the way - on my CTD I've had 285 Firestone Steeltex wore very well and had a good ride, load range E, went bigger after them to Coopers 305X70X16 got about 45k out of them, The were load rang D and the last 5k were scary the tread left was OK but bands started showing between the cleats? I was going to get another set but the particullar model was discontinued. I've heard a great deal about Nittos and the guy who did my DTT had them on his CTD and loved them. Got a set of Nitto T/G, 305X70X16s on TiresDirect.com for about $150 or so each (shipping was included - last early summer). They are a true load range E, quiet, smooth, good traction on/off roas and snow/mud. I hope Nitto doesn't change the tread design or "discontinue" the model.

So - My Vote - Bang for the buck - give the Nittos a shot.

Go with the Revo's, best tire I have ever owned, period! On my second set, first set gave me over 50k, and wore more evenly than any tire I have ever owned, car or truck! To top that, for the first third of the tire life I had bad ball joints and bearing problems! The shop that I got the new ones freaked out, they said they have never seen truck tires wear that even! They are going to start pushing the Revo's more now.

I have ran the Nitto's and Revo's.

The Nitto's wore out WAY too fast. And they were horrible for cleanout.



I still haven't killed the Revo's yet. I have almost 50k on them now. A lot of heavy towing, and a good number of power braking events, and they still have a little left in them.

They kept me STUCK to the road in the rain, even the hurricane weather in TX. They handled great, and did everything I wanted out of them.



Only downside, the Revo's went up a BIT in price since I last bought them.
