I ordered Nitto 305/70R16's with an "E" load range, on January 3rd. The right size finally got here! (They sent 295/75R16's first)

My first impression is very positive. Ride is much improved, firm but not an abusive ride. Much better cornering without tire roll.

I put 45#'s in the front and 35#'s in the rear.

Not many miles at this time, I'll try to report later (25K to 35K) with tread wear and handling.

Right on Bob!

Keep us posted on the attributes of these after you have logged some miles on them (i. e. , after the "honeymoon" is over). :D

Gary, the Nittos are fairly agressive, closest tire I can think of is the BFG All Terrains, thought not exactly like them...

Go to readers rigs section, I think it is Blampright or Blampwright that has pics of his 18" Nittos on his Ram.

These are the tires I am planning on as of now, if my Michelin's ever wear out... ...

Like Tom has said. They are fairly aggressive, but not a mud terrian, no tire noise while driving. They are an all season tire.

I'll try and get a good close up picture and post it.

Many guys are running 295's on 6. 5" wheels, but I personally think they are a little too wide for that size wheel. JMHO

WebCrush,

From my experience with 285's on a 6. 5" rim, I kept wearing out the center of the tire, even after setting the front tire pressure at 45#'s and the rears at 35#'s. 295's are basically the same width as the 285's.

Excellent Bob, glad you finally got your tires on. I'm really looking forward to seeing you truck with the Terras. Might take some pictures and post 'em next time your truck's all prettied up

I red the same article. Its only really bad point was it was not really a good mud tire.

Actually Bob, the BFG 295s are 5/8" wider than their 285s as well as being taller than either the 285s or the 305/70s.

John,

My statement was "295's are basically the same width as the 285's. "

According to the BFG website, the 295's are . 3" wider  (not much difference) than the 285's, and the 305's are . 9" wider than the 285's. :D

Bob, I believe you are correct on the width issue... I was looking at my notes wrong. The . 600" dimension is the increase in diameter OVER the 285. The 295 is listed as being 33. 5" in dia. whereas the 285 is listed as being 32. 9" in dia.

The . 300" dim. you stated sounds about right... I compared my (still new) 285 (spare) to my new 295 when I upsized... they were a little wider but nothing monumental.

:D

I just put a set of LT285/75/16 Nitto's on my truck and was wondering if someone could give me some idea of what air pressure I should run in these. When I got them home and they had cooled down the tire shop had them at 60 psi front and back. I lowered them to 55 front and 50 back but that still seems to high. Could anyone give me a good starting place. Thanks
