Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) nned new tires, cooper or good year?

Costco has good prices on Michlins. I would think Sam's Club should too.

Best tire for the $. Ran them on my old truck over 250K and my other vehicles.

I recently put on BFG All-Terrain T/A KO's on and am real pleased with them. I had the same on my last truck for over 40k. They are quiet on the road and not squirly at all. I've pulled 10k lb + trailers and they didn't get mushy at all. I looked seriously at the Michelins, but didn't want to spend an extra $20 per tire. The tire guy also had Coopers there and he recommended the BFG's over them for my application.

BFG All Terrains TA/KO all the way. Three ply sidewall, they're great on ice, and still had 50% tread on my last truck when I sold it with 40k on the tires.

Michelins vs Goodyears

I've never had a set of goodyears that were any good, wouldn't stay in balance, bad on wet roads, short lived.



I've never had a bad set of Michelins, put em on, keep air in them, and they last a long time. They work well in the snow and wet too.

If you do nothing but drive on the pavement, Michelins are a great tire. But if you want on need any kind of traction you must go with something else. I run goodyear workhorse extra grip. Load range D, Not much less than the LR E on the michelin. I gross out at 25k-35k when loaded most of the time and they are a bit squishy but not bad. should be good for 40k and at $95 a piece I'll save the $60 or $70 a tire and get some traction. The workhorses also bite very good on the pullin track. JMHO
