new member with a question: i have a 1992 w250 that i can't seem to get any heat out of. i have changed the thermostat (put in the correct one from cummins), removed the heater hoses and flushed the heater core(not plugged). had a piece of cardboard between the intercooler and radiator, but it didn't seem to help. any input would be helpful. thanks

Heat Problem

First with the truck well warmed up ( drive for 1/2 hour), check that both hoses going into the heater core are warm, if so, the coolant is circulating properly. Next check the air inlet door, it's a small door on the right side of the heater assembly (inside truck) that controls the airflow, it may be stuck part open or closed. You can have a look at the damper control if you remove the glove box, it's on the top of the heater assembly, just cycle the heat on and off and see if the arm that operates the door moves, this will also cycle the coolant valve under the hood as well, both operate via vacuum actuators. Also check the control cable from the temperature control to the "blend air door" it may have become disconnected or broken. The door operating lever is located just to the right of ducting going to the defrost vents. Another problem that can cause the heater to not work properly is having low coolant level and getting an air lock in the heater core. Although this is not normaly a problem in Dodge trucks, if the coolant has been filled properly; I have seen it happen in some Ford products.

GOT HEAT !!

Well, after putting it off as long as i have i've FINALLY got heat !! I removed the entire heater box from the inside of the cab,and removed the heater core, and flushed it out. There seemed to be a flow problem (slight),so i decided to put a new one in. Then i flushed the cooling system with the heater core bypassed. And now i'm so :-laf i could :{ . I also removed the fan,and put a piece of cardboard between the radiator and intercooler that blocked the whole radiator. While towing today the temp climbed up pretty good ,as it was warm out  After removing the cardboard everything cooled down fine while towing. ;)
