No 1st gear in trans auto

I have been noticing some noises in first gear and shudder. Now today I took it out for a drive and first gear seems to slip real bad 2,3,4 all seem fine my signature shows power enhancements what do you guys think, time for a rebuilt trans ? who rebuilds these so they can handle the abuse the cummins puts out ?

You eather have a clutch pack slipping or a overrunning clutch going out. To find out if it is the overrunning clutch. Put the truck in manual first and see if it slips. If it does not then the overrunning clutch is going out. The bad news is if it is this overrunning clutch the trans has to come apart. It is the last item in the very bottom of the main case. The noise you speak of leads me to think it is the overrunning clutch eating itself up.



Sounds like a rebuild time. I am sorry to say. As far company's to rebuild them. I have not delt with any of them. I do my own. I'll let other people tell of their favorite trans company.
