Check your vacuum lines both at the axle and back at the transfer case. There are hard lines that run along the frame rail and back to the cross member and then plastic lines that go from there to the transfer case itself. Mine came off this winter as well. It isn't a motor, it's just vacuum that's applied to one side or the other. There's also a vacuum switch at the transfer case that it connects to. First thing would be to check the lines though.
