I need you all to do some digging on this one. I've been waiting until the first quarter of the year to order my new rig and talking with the dealer here, any 3500 SRW ordered after Jan. 1 will NOT be able to get the Aisin. What they are saying is the factory can't keep up with the orders, so Ram will be only putting them in the DRW.
I was holding out for a 2014 with the air suspension, but I may have to throw out that idea.

Thanks for the warning. I've been watching myself seeing the SRW's going on and off restriction. Like you looking 3500 SRW with the Aisin.
I'll probably wait until 2015 or after to order, to ensure they, Ram have enough Aisin transmission's for the SRW's.

Go for it now!

If want air, just put aftermarket airbags on it. It is only supplemental bags on a 3500 anyway, not full air suspension like the 2500 will be.

Either order one now, or get a leftover 2013 and save thousands of $ in the process. There are plenty of SRW with Aisins left.

Looks like I am going to put a hold on one of the 3500s the dealer has on order now. It's due in about 3-4 weeks. A bit sooner that I was wanting to get my new truck, but I'm glad I know now than to find out in a few months and be disappointed.

A dealer told you this? If so, I wouldn't believe it..

Mostly because most dealer have no idea what coming from their mouth... 2nd because there are dealers that frequent different these forum, and if they had been told this, I think they would have let the cat out of the bag..

Yes, I'm ashamed to say I got the word from the dealer. And I bought the snake oil. Seems I heard we shouldn't believe we couldn't get 3.73s and 4.10s in the SRW 3500. Look where we are now. I just don't want to take the chance and end up disappointed again. Not that the ol' 2001 isn't doing the job just fine. I got what I wanted when I ordered that truck and I would like to get what I want this time too. So, we'll see. Time will tell.

I don't think it likely that dealers know what will happen next year. I have seen discounts such as $8000-9000 on 2013 Rams listing at 55-61K. You don't need to drink the dealer's Koolaid and pay near list just to get an Aisin transmission in your 3500. You can tell easily if a salesman isn't lying--his lips aren't moving.

Discounts are deep if you look for them mine listed for 67 and I paid 53 and they installed BnW hitch and plug in bed and delivered the truck 160 miles. I wasn't even looking at longhorn trucks because the where out of my price range till I learned how deep they were will to discount.

Congrats on the new truck.

They sure rip us Canadians off! My Longhorn that should arrive any day now had an MSRP of $87,000.00!!!!!!! with the fleet discount that I get from the construction association I'm a member of it dropped to $64,000.00 and you guys are driving off the lot with them for $53,000.00 as regular retail customers and our dollar is basically on par. What a kick in the nuts. Now mine is a 2014 and has all the extras that a Longhorn can have added as well as dually but still!!!!

Can't say I am getting that big of a discount, but it is in the range of $13k with no trade. I'm pretty happy.

Are you saying dealers knew about the restriction? If so, why was I and many other able to order SRW Cummins equipped trucks with 4.10s? To bad it never got built, but dealers had no idea, until a few months in, and we here knew about it before most of them...

Here's my original order with 4.10s ... To bad it never got build...

Now how did your dealer know it wouldn't happen, when Dealer Connect was accepting the orders with 4.10s?

Matt at Saitta Trudeau, the May Madness associated dealer, said if you plugged in 4.10s, the system would kick it out and not allow it on SRW 3500s. I don't know whether your dealer made up that page, or what. Still, there are a good number and variety of 2013s left; just be a little flexible on equipment, color, location, and you can get a great deal.

Dealer didn't make it up.. My original order went in on 1/25 for a 2500 Big Horn with 4.10s.. I had my dealer cancel that and changed it to the 3500 on 1/28. Then I think the 2nd or 3rd week in Feb, I wanted to change the trans to Aisin .... Remember '13 3500s hadn't started production yet ... and when I tried then, it wouldn't take an order with 4.10s. Dealer called his regional to see what might be going on.. Regional got back to him, the next day, and said it was a error in the ordering system and it had been fixed to try again.. So in late Feb, my order was changed to the above.... 3500 SRW w/Aisin and 4.10s... I was sitting at the dealers desk when the orders were placed. To bad the truck never got built... When production started and my order wasn't moving, I had the dealer look into it. Multiple times, dealer was assured by regional that the order was fine and the hold up was the CHMSL camera. Eventually they were told order had to be resubmitted without the 4.10s as they would not be available in with the SRW configuration...

BTW, even after the order change, to drop the 4.10s, my truck still didn't get built... I ended up cancelling the order in May and reorder a '14 in August... The '14 did get built... I've got a few minor issues with it, but I am a bit ****** with the lag. When I stomp on the Go peddle, it doesn't want to move at 1st. It feels like major turbo lag. I'm told, on the boards, that the issue seems to be with Aisin equipped trucks, as the 68RFE trucks can even do burn outs.... It seems very strange to me that they would apply Torque management heavier on the Aisin trucks, vs the 68RFE trucks, since the Aisin is supposed to be a much stronger transmission...

A similar related issue, but not for the 2014 MY in my situation, cost me 2K more in price in 07 because I waited for the then rumored increase in HP for the MY07 C&C in 2006. The Jan 1st. change has always been a problem for Dodge trucks. I waited for the magical increase in HP from the 305 6.7 CTD to the 6.7 350 HP CTD that was coming out in the 07.5 6.7 CTD, and it turned out to stay at 305 HP for the C&C 6.7 anyway. The only person that got it right and told me the actual HP numbers, including the Manual/Auto TQ numbers, was a Dodge representative at the Rodeo finals in Vegas. They had a Laramie with the B&W Elite flat bed on it, it was the only C&C I could find in the luxury package I wanted to buy and at the same time I got to look at the bed I wanted to install on my truck. (look at signature) So I ordered my tuck in mid January, after I had good info, and equipped the truck as I wanted, BUT when it was delivered I paid 2K more in emissions costs (increase in the CTD cost plus added emissions costs) and the load flat floor system was deleted that Dodge wouldn't budge on. The load flat floor system was ordered with the premium seat package that I didn't need, but was the option if you wanted it.

So the moral of that story is buy whats on the lot so you know exactly what your getting or order the truck and be prepared for changes when delivered. If I ever order another truck I will have in writing that I can get my deposit back if it comes with any changes. I ended up buying the load flat floor system on eBay, that cost me $200.00, because the dealer wanted 1200.00.

I paid $62,000.00 for the 07.5 new and it was a loaded Larimie and now I'm getting a Longhorn 6-7 years later for $64,000.00, so that isn't a bad increase, but the 07.5 had not fleet discounts in it.

 62K for a 07.5, I paid 42K for my 07 C&C SLT with most of the luxury besides DVD and leather seats. Was it painted with real Gold? :-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf

Welcome to Canadian pricing! Even the vehicles that are made in eastern Canada sell cheaper in the US than here. It should be worth it's weight in gold by now with what I paid for it and how much I've had to put into it up till now, including today! The thing has cost me in total about $110,000.00. I'm not kidding either. This new one is staying totally stock and I'm still debating on extended warrantee for it, but that's a rip off in it's self. I could have bought and paid for a small rental property for that much in that past 6 years and been making money instead.
