I was thinking of buying the heater cord from Geno's or ebay but discovered last night that the heater isn't even installed. Instead, there is a plug in the port (see photo). I thought pretty much every truck came with at least the element? Could the reason be due to the fact the truck was built in Mexico and it would be more of an "option" than standard equipment?

I don't think you're looking in the right area. This is where the block heater is located.

That almost looks like your cord just to the left of your oil filter?

You guys were dead on. Last night, i actually spent more than a few seconds investigating and found the block heater directly above, including the power cord; thanks to all. Hopefully after six years and 180K of non-use, the heater works. Will find out tomorrow morning.

(Sradke) I had a feeling if i posted the photo someone would comment on that damn filter. I was in a bind at the time and that was the best Wallyworld had to offer last week. Rest assured, it will be coming out this weekend!

I do not have a block heater on my truck I got it from Phoenix AZ this fall. I think thay was thinking it was warm in AZ. so thay did not need it . But I will have to put one in. It's to cold here in Minnesota not to have one. 2005 3500 DRW Auto 4X4

We had an 05 in at work awhile back. He wanted to buy a cord for his. He had brought the truck up from Arizona to Canada. I went out and looked at it and it did have a heater with a threaded cap over but no cord. I checked the engine serial number and it came with a heater. Shadrach

The heater element is there. It is installed at the Cummins plant during assy. See the picture I posted up above. There will be a black plastic cap covering the connection to the element. All you need to do is get a cord.
