No Brake Lights, No E Flashers

Ideas Please,

I had gooseneck problems and the welder that fixed the mechanical problem caused an electrical problem. The current situation is no wires connected at the trailer plug. I have the center stop light but nothing else. I have no Blinkers. I have no emergency flashers. I have no blown fuses. I do have a brake controller and havent checked anything there yet. I'm very new to Dodge so I'm trying to figure out exactly what there doing. I work this truck so I really need to get it up and going.

Thanks ,

Jimmy

It sounds like he cut the harness to the rear lights. (or possibly the ground? I can't remember if they ground to the body/frame individually, or on a common wire) Turn signals just glow in front and on the dash with no rear light? Front flashers work?

Wait,

My mistake.

I have turn signals front and rear.

all turn signals are ok. The turn signals wouldnt work because the flasher button was in the operate position.

So now the problem is no E-flashers and no brake lights.

Never weld to any vechicle without diconnecting the batteries first. I have seen it fry ECU on engines and transmissions. I hope lights are your only problem.

Swap the flasher unit from the signals which are working, to check the emergency flashers. Also check to see if you have power at the brake light switch under the dash.

I found the problem.

Thanks to all that posted. The electrical system was of course disconnected before the work began. The problem stemed from the fact that the welder dude wired the connector backwards. I found this early on but just disconnected it completely for troubleshooting purposes. I couldnt find any fuses blown so I knew it was going to be a little weird. What I finally noticed is that every time I turned on the E Flashers I could hear the flasher relay click but do nothing else. I'm guessing that somehow DC has combined this relay with the turn signals(I'm used to seeing two seperate relays) because the relay worked fine with the turn signals. I removed it and opened the cover and found a solder trace opened. I resoldered it and it works fine now.

Thanks to everyone that posted. This is my first Dodge and I love it but it's taking me a little time getting used to the differences between it and a Ford. I do Hotshot work and this whole problem came about as result of my old mule hauling to much weight. I picked up in Stephenville Texas and the guy said the load was about 15,000lbs(That would put my Gross at 30,500) I started on the trip and found out pretty quickly that I could pull the load fine but couldnt stop it. I headed for the local truckstop where I was amazed to find that my Gross weight was 43,600 lbs. This is an 18 wheeler load for the company that I work for(28,140lbs load). I was only about 13,600 lbs overweight. Long story short it bent the plate that the ball mounted to and thats why the welder was working on it today.
