My brake lights just stopped working.

There do not seem to be fuses associated directly with brake only lamps.

All other lamps work, including brake lights on a trailer, thus eliminating the brake pedal switch as the culprit.

What else should I trouble shoot?

Thanks

Have to ask, did you check both the L & R bulbs??? It is the bulb in each tail light unit that is not the turn signal. Does the third brake light work???

You said in another post that you had just removed a camper or something??? Did any wiring have to be unhooked for removal???

There may be another fuse involved.

Mike.

Well for better or worse it has self cured. Nice for the moment, but unsettling, I assume the problem will return.

Obviously not a fuse, as those don't self repair.

I vaugly recall that I removed the bulb from the third brake light as I most always have a camper or at least a shell.

Fwiw, the camper lights never had issues. They are on a 7 pin in the bed that was all plug and play harness install; nothi g to hack or splice.

Somewhere there is a wire spliced into the brake circuit that ran the third brake light on the camper. I couldn't track it down in the few minutes I spent crawling on my back.

If one of those wretched scotch locks or some other poor wire connection method was used to connect that camper third brake light to the truck's brake light wire it may have damaged it.

That would not affect the trailer light operation.
