Has any one experanced no brakes after start
up? This happened one morning, the truck was cold, temp @ 28 degrees, I started the truck put it in reverse backed out of the garage and no brakes!!!! The ABS light was on and also the brake light. I shut the truck off and restarted it and it worked fine. Has not done it since. Any ideas what caused this?

Mine does it only if I startup & take right off Simon. I only notice it when it sits all nite & I start & take right off in the morning. Usually I have to scrape frost, so it's idling. If I idle it to warm it up, no problemo. Good question, I wonder if it's suppose to be ready immediately.

I'm having a problem with mine, when I start the engine and step on the brake pedal,it pushs real hard then slowly moves toward the floor and brakes sometimes are very slow to respond, then other times the pedal is fine. I think maybe the brake vacuum-booster is going? Any input as to what the problem may be???????

ABS light+Brake light+no brakes=no vacuum!

Check the entire vacuum system for leaks. Really cold weather should make the problem worse. When I start mine after it has been sitting for awhile, it takes about 30 seconds or more to build up vacuum and turn the light off.

My 93 did the same thing. First off, check the vacume output from the pump and check all the hoses to make sure one isn't split. Second, inspect the check valve going into the booster. Third, mine turned out to be a leaking bladder in the booster, replace it.

Just went throu this last week with my son's '94. Turned out to be the vacuum line running to my cruise control mounted under the battery on the driver's side. The battery acid had deteriated the line and was loosing vacuum bigtime.
Pulled battery and mount, replaced vacuum line, problem solved.
If it is not this line, test each one by pulling and plugging to see if problem goes away. You can eventually fine the leak, if you have one. Do this in the driveway, not on the road. I like those around me to have brakes when going 70 mph in a 7000 pound truck!!!

Hope this helps... ..... John
