My sisters truck, a 1999 24v 4X4 does not have any brakes or powersteering. The Powersteering fluid is full. What is going on and how much are the parts to fix?

1) Hydraulic Booster.

2) Vaccume pump.

Which one?

It wouldn't be the vacuum pump,as it isn't used for the brakes. It must be the PS pump that is acting up. If is affecting both PS and brakes, the pump is the common item between the two. I have never seen a pump just quit totally, they usually get weak,or the pressure is low

Try giving the pump a good whack. I had the a similar problem,in the middle of winter on a really cold day. Started the truck and the pump started moaning, then no PS or brake assist. Shut it off, smacked the pump a few times and all was good. I think the relief valve was stuck, maybe hers is too ?

One other thing to check is does she have vacuum for the heater controls ? If she doesn't then maybe whatever drives the PS and vacuum pump has sheared off ?

I'll dig up some prices for you

Just checked around on the pump. It isn't available rebuilt or aftermarket (UAP\NAPA,Carquest,etc). The dealer here says only available new - $642. 00 list,$558. 00 wholesale. Called a few wreckers here and none were available but they wanted $375. 00 if they can find one.

Good luck

AGR has a replacement pump that is 160. 00, it outputs more pressure than the stock unit. I will be replacing mine pretty quick due to mine feeling like it is loosing it's powersteering ability.

I thought the AGR pump only was avalable for the gassers ? If it is available for the Cummins has anyone tried one yet ?

No, the pump is for diesels, I contacted them last week to find out what they had for our trucks and they have a pump that outputs more pressure than the stock one and connects just like ours by running off the vacuum pump.
