Well, had a strange happening this weekend.

First, on a road trip to the coast Friday, the stereo (factory) stopped working but the power stayed on it even with key off and/or fuse pulled. :confused:

Then this morning the dash gauges/tach/speedo went haywire (chimes a plenty, lights on dash lit up) - truck ran fine - this was accompanied by the No Bus notification in the odometer window and CCB (or whatever it was) in the overhead display. Did a SEARCH here on TDR and read up on this issue, unhooked the batteries (a bit of gunk on one), wiggled and re-plugged in all the PCM connectors and reset the APPS. OK, started truck up, everything back to 'normal'. Stereo is fine... ... ..... took off an hour later, half a mile from home, the stereo absolutely freaked out - full volume in ONE speaker and the display on the stereo had some hieroglyphics on it. Would NOT respond to any buttons or power off. Pulled the fuse (after cleaning out my shorts) ;) -stereo finally shut up - but the display on the stereo remains with the key off/fuse out... ... ... .

No gauge dying problem/'no bus' message.

Any other ideas? :{

24 hours later and no change in anything... ... ... ... this is weird. Hoping it is just the stereo gone boobs up so I can upgrade it... ... ... ... tho that's a stretch.

LMAO!!!! :-laf That has got to be one of the weirdest stories I have ever heard on here, sounds like a ground problem to me, and as for the stereo I have no idea how it could stay on with the fuse pulled out :confused: :confused: But this also sounds like a good excuse to get a better stereo lol ;)

Was talking with a guy from Mississippi this weekend at the Nats. He was having the same sort of problem. No gauges, and he got the no-bus sign on the dash. He also has tried to load an after market power programer and the computer refuses to accept it. Randy(his was a 2000 Model)

Check your voltage, maybe your voltage isolator has gone haywire and your overloading the system. Just an idea. Also, did you pull the fuse on the Radio, or the speaker amps? There are 2 fuses, one kills the amps, other kills the radio. You might also want to do a little investigation under the dash to make sure you dont have a wire chaffin somewhere, possibly a power wire that is grounding out on the metal frame work of the dash, and by pulling the fuse on an item, is killing the power, BUT it still getting power from the ground some how. who knows, just some ideas.

Appreciate the replies, guys.

OK, so where is the 'voltage isolator'? Voltage seems 'normal' (14) on the gauge... ... ... .

And, no, didn't even know about the speaker amps fuse. I'll try that tonight.

Thanks again... ... ... ... keep the ideas coming!
