Archived "no bus"

My '99 (180k miles) has developed an issue. It started fine, but I had no gauges at all... . then the odometer started blinking and showed "no bus". I am hesitant to drive it, not knowing if it will shift (speed sensor / transmission communication). Anybody chased this one before?

Just a thought but try and pull the cluster out to unseat the two connectors on the backand push it back in. Could be just a connection and reseating it could clear it up. Something quick to try.
