I'm wireing in a camper plug on left front of bed area. Need to know on left turn and right turn wire colors. Their is two red&gray for r. t. and two green&red for L. T. . Does it matter which I hook into? Have done my first oil change, followed TDR knowledge and it turned out perfect. Thanks for all the good info. 3000 miles and no problems. Thanks #ad

2001 2500 Quad Cab SLT 4 x 4 Cummins, 6 speed, white, ordered with most opitions. Lost bed first week. Built flatbed with fuel tank and tool box under sides. Ex ford turbo owner. 4 horse circle J slant load trailer. Love the way the cummins pulls. Love my mustangs

I had a RV place make up an 8' cord with plugs to match my camper and plug in to the factory hitch plug. No drilling, the pre-wire on Dodges has all the turn signals, charging capabilities etc already there. Then you don't have to cut into your main harness. If you tow a trailer also they can splice in a pigtail for your trailer at the end that plugs in to your truck. Very clean and easy--cheap too. Only $25.

I just went to my local trailer sales place and had them make me up a pig tail that converted from the factory 7 pin rv connector to a 6-pin round connector that my trailer uses, that way there is not slicing and its clean.

DRT,

I like that idea. How is the cable routed in the bed? Do you plug the cable in, lay it along the bed and wheel well, then slide the camper in?

Regards... ... . Hal

I did the same thing. NAPA had the plug for about $8 and they have a nice 7 wire bundle that they sell by the foot thats made for doing trailer wiring. I run it up the inside of the bed and plug it into the camper. I was afraid to let the RV installer cut into the truck harness and using the plug that dodge conveniently provided at the hitch just seemed so easy.

HGH--Yep--I cut a 1" square piece of seaboard about 6" long and attached it to the driver side of the camper on the bottom where it meets the rear corner of the truck bed. I make sure the cable is on top of this piece. This keeps the camper from shifting over and crushing the cable. Just lay the cable over the fender well and leave the connection where you can get to it via the little access doors. I tuck the end that plugs in to the truck behind the bumper. Works great.
