2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission No cruise control

I had to go to Indy to pick my girlfriend up at the airport and tried using the cruise but it did not work, the light on the dash came on but the cruise did not work, any ideas? Truck is a 99.

First thing to check is the pedal. The brake light switch which extends out when you apply brake might need adjustment. Its very touchy for the cruise control. Next check the vacum lines. Dodge put the vacum accuator under the battery on the drivers side so corrosion sometimes messes it up. If it was a vacum pump failure you'd know about it because you would loose power brakes. The funny thing about the brake light pedal switch is that if the switch is out of possition for very long while the cruise control is turn on even if you move the brake pedal you would still have to turn off engine to reset computer.

96 was the last year for vacum power brakes. 97 and newer are Hydro Boost. The vacum line under the battery as mentioned above is very good place to check first and then follow the line every place it goes to check for leaks. If you have had any work done on it lately check the area that was worked on as sometimes lines get jiggled off.

While you have the battery out to check the vacuum line also check the actuator for pin hole leaks on the outside. Battery acid will sometimes drip on it, as well as the line and eat holes in it. I removed mine, treated and painted the inner fender and sealed the pin holes with 2 part epoxy. Worked great and saved me about $40. Oo.

Haven't replaced it yet but, my truck needs a new servo. Acid ate a hole in it big enough to stick my thumb in it. Capped the vac. line off.

I found my acid chewed air line at the servo yesterday but can't feel or see where it plugs into the servo.

Does anyone know where it goes into it in relation to the throtle cable in the centre of it, on a 97.

Unless you have very small hands removing the battery (and its holder) will be faster than trying to hook up the vacuum hose with it in the way.
