I want to put some running boards on, but I don't want to drill holes in the truck. In the midwest salt belt that seems like asking for rust.

Anyone know of a running board model(s) that can just bolt on? It seems the dealers for this stuff, even the truck accesory places, don't really know how a board mounts to the 3G cab.

i have some old type running boards. pic in profile. i did them myself as well as the lights. i did drill holes in the body lip a few places and the fender lips and frame. these don't just hang on the body lip. i bought these 1 for the older look and 2 helps keep the salt off the body of the truck. i'm up in wis. and hate the salt, wish it was sand, oh well. but what i did before screwing everything down, i siliconed every bolt/screw. then for the underside where it mounts to the frame i sprayed on some undercoating very heavy. this boards are aluminum so they won't rust.

The dealer has chromed alumunim tubular boards that are no drill.

Thanks for the ideas.

It seems that there are several no drill options with tubes, but not much in a solid runing board. I don't know why it would be easier to make a tube bolt up than a board.

I've installed the "Guardian" series on my last two trucks. Their "no drill" mounts attach to the body mounts and you do very little drilling on the truck. I did have to drill some of the brackets to make them fit level, but not the truck... ;)

Here is a pic of my Westin "Step Boards" these have been on my 03 and now my 05, for a total of just over 50k miles.

They have been great at preventing rock chips and helping the short folks step up into the cab.

They do require drilling for the install, I opted to not do it and have had no problems.

So you used the Westin mounting brackets bolted to the exsisting rocker holes, and just skipped over all the drill parts? That could work.

Do they seem solid?

Yes sir, they are solid and much stronger than the Smittybuilt nerfs that were on my 99. I'm 6'6" and 260 lbs and they hold me just fine.

Also the rock chip protection makes it an easy choice for me.
