I'm posting here because this is a 1st gen transmission from a 1st gen cummins 4x4 truck.
I just installed a used(recently built)fresh 727 into my Jeep behind the 4bt cummins. Any way, I changed the filter and fluid before firing it up. The old fluid was clean, and the filter looked good also. I refilled the transmission with atf+3. Started the engine, dropped into gear, and nothing. It doesn't even think about doing anything in any gear.
Here are the things I checked: Fluid level is ok, I actually overfilled it a little thinking it might need more to pick up. ; I took the torque converter bolts out and made sure the converter was in properly, and engaged to the pump drive, seems ok without pulling trans. I pulled the cooler lines and test ran it with both lines off, both lines were dry, and no fluid came out of either port, in any gear. The shifter is properly moving the shift shaft coming out of the trans. I pulled the pressure port plugs at the servo and accumulator, no fluid comes out of either when running.
This has me really confused and upset.
Maybe I'm overlooking something, hopefully something simple. I'm hoping one of you guys may have some knowledge on this type of thing or experience with this problem.
The one thing I'm going to check tonight is the filter, thats the only thing that I really changed and I'm hoping to remove it and find out that it was made wrong or something.
Thanks in advance for any help or assistance.
