this past week i was out hunting when we go to leave the truck started just fine but ideled around 1000rpms (not normal). so let it warm up for a bit still high RPMs . but i put it in gear and push the go pedal and nuthing. well now every time i go to start it when it's cold (42* out side) in the mornig i have to wait for a bout 5mins. also the same time this all started my wait to start light went out. i have fixed it i think but it stays on for a long time every time even if the truck is at normal running temp. any help. i have gone to the serch page but with no luck.

my truck is an

1999 3500 5spd 4x4 all stock other then a edge EZ, a new VP44 this past summer along with a LP & fuel pressure gauge.

PS. what is the difrents in a APPS and a TPS do they do the same job?

No 'wait to start light' or a long 'wait to start light' are symptoms of a bad ECM. It's in the hardware, not the software.

I bought a CaTCHER ecm and mine does this.

P. S. Yes. TPS-12 valve APPS-24 valve

thank you for the reply ThrottleJockey

so does my truck sound like it is the APPS or is it the ECM? i went out to leave this morning and it took much long to get the go pedal to work this time. started it had to let it high idal for about 10min then turn it off let it set for 2min. then start it let it run for 1 more min then turn it off and restart it then i had pedal. i hate to trow parts at but i am leaning toward the APPS. hoping some one mite point me in the right place. if it is the ECM are they pricie and hard to come by and were are they located on the truck?

thank y'all for all the help.

Do the easy fixes first.

Disconnect the pos battery cables for 30 mins or more. This might reset the ECM.

After you reconnect, do the APPS reset procedure.

Then clean the IAT and the MAP sensors.

All those are free. ('Cept 'fer the can of cleaner from NAPA :-laf )

i tryed disconnecting the batterys for 30min and resetting the APPS it seemed to work for that day but the next day it came back.

i will try undoing the batterys tonight and reconnecting them in the morning maybe i did not wait long enuff. i will keep you posted.

thank you for all your help.

well its been a few days after sence i removed the cables from the battery over night. and i have had no issues with the truck. thanks for all the help ThrottleJockey.
