Archived No grid heaters?

Went out to start the truck since it hasn't been run for a couple of weeks and we're supposed to be hit by a big storm tonight. Turned the key and the wait to start light isn't coming on. I waited the normal amount of time it takes the grid heaters to cycle and tried to start it but it barely sputtered. Acts like the grid heaters aren't working, are they using the IAT sensor as a reference or do I have a problem with my ECM? Batteries were fully charged and the starter spun it over real easy but its been pretty cold around here lately 15 degrees at present. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

you can hot wire the grid heaters with some ford external starter solenoids and a switch if you are really worried about it. You could also plug the truck in for the night and hope that it's warm enough to start easily. There are lots of things that could have gone out to cause this problem not enough information. They get input from the intake temp through the computer and cycle on and off if the intake temp is below 40 I believe and will function until around 25-32 mph.

Check relays. Turn key on and off. Should hear a click, Remember fuel shut down also clicks.

Watch your voltage gauge when wait to start comes on. When wait to start goes off. Your voltage will go up.

Temp sensor could be bad also.

Usually it the relays. Either they are bad or just need to cleen the connections.
