I just replaced my headlight switch, because my headlight wouldn't come on, everything else would. The plastic was melted again, so I just replaced it with a new one, and now that same thing is happening, no headlights. I test light the fuse and there is nothing, where do I go from here?

Did the wiring harness melt also? If so that looks like it might be the problem.

Yup, switch was melted, but my Dad traced the problem to be with the highlight switch, not sure what it's doing yet, but everything points to that being the culprit.

Wow two in one nite

The heat sinc CANNOT dissapate the heat generated from theese switches fast enough. ESPECIALLY if you keep your guage cluster lights dimmed. At full brightness the switch actually has a slightly LOWER load on it thus running cooler. Many guys have drilled a hole in the HVAC duct right next to the switch place to help cool it after they installed a new one.

I'm going to get that kit from Summit also to help out with the load, but I did drill holes in the air duct, directly in front of the switch, 2 holes, and you know I think it really helps out. Before I could feel the heat on the front of the switch around the knob, and on the top of the dash, even through the dash cover, now there is no heat on the face of the switch and just a warm spot on the top. If things get too hot I can always turn the a/c on to help out, but it seems to have made a big difference.

The Summit kit is pretty cheap for the good it does and easy to install. Put mine in and took about three hours. I ran direct from the passenger side batt and ran a wire over from the other side to simplify installation and have all connections on one side. Replaced fusable links supplied with fuse holders and 15 amp fuses. Easier to replace a fuse than a link! Ran the wire harness over the top of the radiator following the existing run.

Yup, deffinately going to get the kit, I don't want to do this switch job again. Now I have the "air bag" light coming on!
