I have a 2001 3500 4x4 automatic, stock injectors, aftermarket lift pump and water separator, 5 edge, super-bee turbo, stock tires,BD transmission' exhust brake, air compressor, and larger inter-cooler.

I am having trouble getting heat to my feet on the drivers side and to the side window. Is there a separate heater core and if so where is it located. It is cold here in Boise.

Can anyone help?

One of your vacuum motors controlled by your ac/heat switch may have a ruptured diaphram or torn vacuum line, or the switch is failing. I'm guessing the former. You can access the floor vent door motor from under the dash without removing anything, just wiggling around the floor. Check on the driver's side, right behind the crash bag controller on the floor. You'll see it there. Sometimes the little plastic lock that holds the door metal rod to the motor arm also falls off. Some time wiggling your hand around can get it.

Thanks, I'll try that and get back to you. I Looked at the upper vacuum arm and it works ok. I didn't know that there was a vacume door down there. I haven't had good floor heat all these years.

This happens because of a federal law. Sounds radical? That law REQUIRES defrosters on all vehicles sold in the US. The only way for the manufacurer to assure that they will always work is to spring load the distribution doors so that any failure in ther system will automatically satisfy that law. Neat, huh?
