I have a 2002 Ram with power/heated mirrors. The passenger side mirror heat does not work. Drivers side does work. What should I check first? How is the mirror mounted? Can I take it off without breaking the mirror? Thanks for the assistance.

If you have the round OEM electrics, the glass pops out easily. Check for 12 VDC at the grid contacts with the glass out with the heat ON. If 12 VDC is present, disconnect and measure the grid resistance, it should read low. The pass side OEM glass is not available for replacement from Dodge, (or anyone else that I found), must buy the whole assy if you want the OEM with heat.

Stop - put down any sharp tools and go to the kitchen - raid the baking supplies for two soft tipped stirring spatulas - they work awesome for coaxing the mirror elements out!!

I'm not trying to steal this thread but I am having the same problem as the OP. Can someone explain how exactly to get the glass out? I tried the spatula trick and just managed to break the spatula.

Also since the heater is bonded to the glass can you replace just the glass with the heater or do you have to replace the whole assy?

My bad mirror is on the drivers side

Also kinda a highjack, but I have a 96 and what to put in heated mirrors. Did you say the heat had to be on? Does that mean the 98-02 trucks have a switch for the mirror heat or is it automatic?

Monjack, I called dodge today and found that BOTH mirrors are availible and they are $30. 14 each. I bought mine it will be here in 2-3 days. I'll let you know how it goes.

I still need a Pass side heated glass for my 98 ? When you pick up your order can you check to see if the OEM sells just the 98 PS glass ? My dealer parts guy may have been mistaken, even though I was able to get the DS from the same local guy.

I finally made it to the Dodge dealer today. They only showed the drivers side. Do you have the part number for the left side?

Okay, I just read my post. I am looking for the part number for the pass. side mirror. Major brain clutch slippage!

Check and see

Check & see if they have one for a later year model. Ask him to plug in a 2001 year model & see if they find anything. 98 was a transition year so maybe they might have it for the 99-01.
