Harry Browne on death TAX

BEER, homebrewing, not store

I bought an 87 Toyota Celica. The heat of course worked when I was looking at it to buy. Last week started out down the hwy and it was warming up, all of a sudden it went cold. Checked vacuum lines under the hood, no problems found. Any ideas about the Toyota heater would be appreciated.

FD5,
You might try using a cooling system cleaner then flush it out. If you get nervous with the chemical approach, you might just backflush it with one of those cheap kits until you get flow out of it. Sounds like it is blocked to me.

Flush it and also check that the heat control cable(blue/red knob) isn't broken or the valve stuck closed. Those Celica's have good heaters,my brother in law told me how his upper radiator hose broke so he kinked it so it wouldn't leak, turned the heater on high and drove from Las Vegas to LA in the summer. No coolant was circulating thru the radiator only the heater, said it was a hot drive but the temp ran normal.
