We went to change the rear cover to a Mag-Hytec and noticed the center section to look like a one wheel wonder. So we jacked up one side of the truck and sure enough no posi-unit! We checked the window sticker and order sheet and they both show it to have a limited slip unit to be in it! Monday we are gonna go have us a talk with the dealer to get it installed.

are you totally sure? Because this posi unit is not like the old clutch/cone style... It is helical gear type, which has many very different chariteristics (sp). One being, that it only works under load, thats why it is so seemless around corners unless you jam the throttle, this is how it was explained to me from my mechanic, and seems to be true...

If it is true that you were shorted on the assembly line, what did they do for you?? did they take care of it?

Floor It , raise axle ,gently engage parking brake both wheel will turn if you have LSD,both wheels have to have some pressure to engage,If its in the air with no pressure one wheel will turn ONLY.

On the Mag cover - did they include instructions to fill the lower hole with RTV before installing cover? If not, it would be wise to do as mine was "dripping" due to the "o" ring not sealing on the flange. It was just on the bottom edge of the bolt hole and letting the EXPENSIVE oil leak. Had to drain and fix.

the fun way to test it is to get it out in the street and give your neighbors a good ole smoke show. when the smoke clears, check to see if there is one strip or two:D

That works great. Or, to save treadwear, find a nice dirt lane or grassy knoll, power-brake it until 1500 rpms, take foot off brake, mash accelerator to floor. Count the strips of displaced dirt and/or grass. :D

When I side step the clutch on pavement my open rear leaves two strips of rubber. :) I guess that torque has to find somewhere to go.
