My HERO!

Wood Burning

Sold the truck this weekend. I ended up sellin git to a used car lot. I just didn't have the time or patience to sell it privately.

HMM, I wonder what the engine in my next vehicle will be... .

VeeEightJeff... . Buick to be exact. Picked up a... ready for this... 1978 Buick Electra with the 350 Buick engine (Code-X). 88k miles, been in the guys family since new. His parents owned it in Minnesota, NEVER drove it in winter! No rust or rot, but a dent in the front quarter and rear door. Functional 8-track player with lots of Bing Crosby 8-tracks! Scored it for $600 about three miles from my house.

So far I have put in a radiator, cap, rotor, sorted a few carb issues, and chaged the valve cover gaskets. Not much else to do to it except drive it!

Oh yeah, it is pumpkin orange/brown with the cream vinyl roof (perfect cond), and the couch-like seats.

My first car was '78 Buick LeSabre with the same engine. Long stroke engine has a bit of torque. Poured a lot of money into mine, no one makes performance parts. Rebuilt engine with 90K miles with no cooper showing on any bearing. During the rebuild I added a Comp cam which picked it up a bit. Rebuilt the transmission and drove it for a couple of weeks until I was headed to Casper on the interstate when it started knocking real bad. Jumped off the nearest exit and when I came to a stop the oil pressure dropped to 0  Turns out the fuel pump began leaking gas into the crackcase and spun a couple of bearings. Replaced the rod bearings and then gave the SOB away to a friend. Friend's daughter drove it around town for about a year before it completely blow up. That was the one and only GM I will ever own, I then wisely switched to Dodge products.
