My headlights quit working, well the low beams don't work, the high beams do work. Here's the thing; the low beams won't come on unless the tilt steering wheel is in the full highest up position. So, I guess there must be a worn wire or a fault of some sort inside the steering column? If I move the steering wheel down to where I usually set it, I have no low beams, if I move the wheel all the way up, the lows come on.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Solutions?

Have you done a search yet? I recall a similar problem and several posted things that they had found wrong. Chaffed wire, bad connection to the multifunction switch loose or bad, etc.

Jerome,

That happened to me and it was the contacts in the high/low switch had melted. The high beams run off of a relay while the low beams are a little contact in the column switch. You can get a new one from Napa... it appears that they beafed up the contacts a bit.

I'm not a regular here and don't know how to do a search.

Go to top of Thread/Threar starter page put mouse on top of DISCUSSION FORMS, box should open. Choose Search forum. Describe problem with more than 3 words, should find alot.

The problem turned out to be a wire that had come loose in the multi-function (turn signal) switch. The tech found it and soldered the wire baqck into place and that solved the problem.
This was likely caused by almost 9 yrs of raising and lowering the tilt wheel... . a fatigue failure of the connection.
