2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission No Moog at NAPA???

I went to Napa to buy a MOOG Trac Bar and they said they no longer carry MOOG. The bar they had was made by a company named Precision. They still have a lifetime replacement warranty, but the price was $189. Why do I think I remember the Moog being $105 or there abouts when I looked into it 6 months ago . Anyways, the box looked like it had seen better days, maybe had already gone home with someone and found it's way back???? The tierod boot had a tear in it so I, ofcourse told them to try their lifetime waranty deal with precision I asked who precision was and the parts guy said he thought it was DANA I thought they were a gear company, not a suspension parts company. Anyone familiar with precision and the quality of their parts?

IMHO Percision is not a very high quality part.



I don't ever remember the Moog being $105. The TRW/Federal Mogul bar from Advance Auto is $105. Same PN too. I don't know if it is a quality piece or not?

not accurate info from them. . I just bought it two weeks ago. . they had to special order as it was not in their inventory at the store... it was $159

Even the box had the Precision logo, not the Moog. So I don't know what is going on. Maybe I will get one, since it has a lifetime warranty, and save my old one as a back-up, and that way I can do a Lukes Link without the down time if I need too.

I've found Moog ball joints @ CarQuest- you might try them.

I was the manager of a NAPA store from 1999-early 2003 and we never carried Moog parts. All of the chassis parts were made by DANA brake and chassis. Same supplier of the pads and other brake items.

OOOPS forgot. . give them the part # DS1413 and have them look in the order book and not for their house brand stuff. . they can get it . . I just got it here but it's a very rural store that will go out of it's way to help a guy... the rural stores seam to carry more items than a city store. . maybe they are franchise v/s company stores ??

Thanks Willyslover. Managed to get one at Carquest, bushings came with it. It's in and greased and working well. Great improvement.

Precision (usually u-joint line) is Federal Mogul product, they also own Moog and probably TRW as well as that is often listed in their catalogs.



The DS1413? number is a Moog number and part in whomever's box, hope this helps.



FYI Federal Mogul also owns the Champion spark plug (we all have 6 of those, right ), Carter Fuel products, Fel-Pro (gaskets), Wagner brakes et al. Welcome to mega-company! Actually they make pretty good stuff. Glad you are happy with the track bar.

further investigating and clairifiaction ... . appears I did not get a Moog as I was told



I did a search of part numbers and box labels [I still have the orininal box my "Moog" was shipped in]. . if the box is labeled as Master Ride it will not be a Moog part in the box. .



I have spent a few hours trying to get to the bottom of weather or not Moog is available at Napa. . still waiting for some reply from Napa on line help desk. . appears the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing
