'96 Chevy Suburban AC system question

origin of rights

This really is beginning to annoy me....

... Unless a miracle happens, and the Cummins-powered Ram-Burban actually gets made (don't hold breath)... that would leave only the frikkin' Suburban, and still not a decent Diesel-powered engine, at all... . at least the PSD (FINALLY) has the bugs worked out, and, at last, has a reliability comparable to the Cummins (the longevity may still be shorter, but at least no aluminum heads :p )

next-best would be a large step down to the Durango, which, in a couple more years should have a Benz oil-burner as an option.

after that, we're at the mercy of our own sick transplant/repower combos..... we've all seen that done, in one way or another. We've all seen 90+% of the results suck out loud... .

braile parking :-laf

while the current t444e based psd has most of it's bugs worked out and no alloy heads, looks like the new psd, which is based on navistars vt365 has alloy heads. . , and a cooled egr system:(, cats:( [iirc] and a variable turbo:).

Can't complain about the Durango. Ours has more head room in the third seat than the Excursion or the Exibition. It's alot smaller in all other aspects though. But we get 20~mpg highway, 12mpg in town and it hauls axx.

Not so sure we can blame anyone for the low sales numbers of the Excursion. It just doesn't take the place of an E-350 club wagon for too many large families, churches and clubs. But I hate to see it go. It's an impressive sight to see. Just not enough buyers. The kind of person who is going to buy an Excursion or Club Wagon isn't overly concerned about parking spaces or fuel consumption. The whining liberals were going to buy a toy car anyhow.

I would just buy a good used CTD for around $25K or less, take it to Bayer Auto with another $12K and have them stretch it. You will have less $$ in it than a new Excursion, a more unique vehicle and one with better resale after a few years.

Y'all keep saying the Excursion is expensive, but it is cheap compared to what you get. Our Excursion has every option including leather, PSD, and it only cost around 33K. The dealer offered $9333 under sticker before we even got to the trade in. People are paying more than this for gas Expedition.
