Wow

Water in fuel

one of the local ambulance companies around here recently startet going with the freightliner chassis. they seem to be doing good with fuel economy, but not too great with reliability. at least thats what I hear from the emt's on them. would be wierd seeing a bunch of dmax ambulance. but that may be what has to be done.

This is hogwash:

''. . Several sources who spoke with Ford insiders report that the problem stems from the fact that the new 6. 4L engines produced by ITEC do not fit into 2007 model E-series Fords. "

The 6. 0 was a piece of junk, & the 6. 4 does not look any better.

The reason that Dodge/cummins isn't suggested or used on Ambulances as of yet is that they do not make or supply an Ambulance Prep Package or a chassis that will meet the KKK (federal Ambulance) specs. The Ambulance Service here has switched to Chevrolet. I'd like to see Dodge/Cummins make a KKK spec. chassis.

Well since Ford owns Cummings, why don't they just put a Cummings in it?

Yeah right!

I would also like to see Dodge make a Ambulance Prep Package. If I ever had to taken to a hospital in an ambulance, I would feel more confident knowing that there was a Cummins under the hood instead of a Powerjoke.

If a loved one was being rushed to the hospital in a ford 6. 0 ambulance, engine died on the way along w/ your loved one, would you sue ford?

I would... in a heartbeat.

They don't say anything about considering Dodge/Cummins, which would be the best choice.

A few years back, (2001) our county Fire department purchased a Dodge/Cummins 1-ton, and had a ambulance body installed. They only kept it for two years as the brakes kept giving them troubles! In my opinion, if they had the newer chassis, 3rd gen, the braakes are much better, and they most likely would not have had brake problems.

I remember the 2nd gen 3500 DRW front brake problems. Those only happened to the St. Louis built. I had a Mexico built 95 DRW and never had that problem. I don't know of any Mexico built with the brake problem. I'm sure someone will prove me wrong.
