Are they no longer installing lights under the hood on our trucks any more?

Mine has one.. I added a second one. and its smart, auto shuts off after on so long. 2017 Ram 5500 Laramie... I'll have to check my wife's 19 Ram 1500

But I added the insulation.
Cheers, Ron

Is your truck a C&C Don? I thought I remembered seeing a picture of a pickup.

FWIW, my 14 3500 doesn't have a light either. I wouldn't think trim packages would influence this, but maybe.

My 19 Ram 1500 Limited does not have an under hood light. No place for it to be added either that I could see. :(

I don’t have one, nor the plug to add an OEM one.

My 05 didn’t have one but I easily added it with a factory setup. That’s doesn’t appear to be an option on the 18.

The plug was there to add the kit on my 18. Maybe difference between pickup and cc.

How many people pop a hood nowadays?
1%?

I like the built in flashlight that my Durango has in the trunk, came in handy from time to time. Nice gadget.

Mine is a pu. Check down by the hinge for the plug. It should be a two pin connector. If I remember correctly it was on body side of hinge rather than hood end. I can shoot a photo tomorrow if you want.

Thats where it was on my 05, but I haven’t seen it there on my 18.

I do know there are some differences in the wiring between the CC and PU. When I was adding aftermarket LED tail lights to my PU the blunt cut wire that disables light out warning on CC and PU with AUX switches didn't exist on my truck. So this connector may be the same thing. Anyway here is a picture where it is on my PU.

I really miss the under hood light that my 89 had. It was like a drop light with a long cord with a retractable reel. It was great for when you had to help out your friend with his Chevy when it died. I really wish someone would make a new version of that lamp .

Is it just me, or is it somewhat odd they put the light on the opposite side of the engine bay where all but one of the critical checks are....

Maybe placement isn't enough of an issue to make a difference.
