I do know there are some differences in the wiring between the CC and PU. When I was adding aftermarket LED tail lights to my PU the blunt cut wire that disables light out warning on CC and PU with AUX switches didn't exist on my truck. So this connector may be the same thing. Anyway here is a picture where it is on my PU.

Where does that go into the main harness?

I went and looked again and there is nothing obvious for hooking up an underhood light. I do have the aux-switches thou.

My truck doesn't have Aux switches so that could be the difference. The connector in the picture was already there with a cap on it. I just removed the cap and hooked up the extension harness to the light.

Thank you for this picture. It jarred my memory of a plug I saw when I first bought my truck. It was hanging loose in the engine bay so I tucked it back behind the coolant bottle. Low and behold it's for the light. It even had a Christmas tree pin to retain itself to the firewall and a retainer on the harness itself like it is in your picture. I see in Don's photo in post one his is already there, he just needs to order the light.

Like it was meant to be!

I also have the Aux switches FYI.

It's funny what determines if you get underhood light, underhood insulation, or not. I found the insulation, but that's not what its called. Sound something something.

Cheers, Ron

My truck is the same way but I wired up a switch/relay in the cab and used some White LED string lights that I tied to the hood so it covers everything I am working on.

I’ve been reading about quite a few 18’s that don’t have it. Seems odd for sure. I wonder if it’s tied to aux switches, or just dropped from the assembly line at a certain point. I have an Aug ‘18 build date.

I also didn’t have LED bed lights, but it was prepped for them.

As you can see I don’t even have the cutout in the hood liner.

My 19' 3500 MC Larimited has no cut out in the hood liner for the light nor does it have the harness tap on the passenger side.. My 18' 2500 MC Laramie was the same.... No light. Kind of odd... It's not like deleting the light is saving FCA millions of dollars.

My 19 Laramie no plug on right side, looked down by coolant recover tank nothing, must have been dropped early in 2019 trucks.

I have an 18 limited MC 3500 and I have no light but I have the harness and the cutout. I also have six switches and the factory LED bed lights. I believe my build date was actually dec of 17 as well.

Went to the dealer the other day to buy a light and he said the part number didn’t even come up in the computer. Gonna go back next week, he said he’s gonna make some phone calls if it’s supposed to have it or not.

I actually went to the dealer the other day to purchase one and the man at the counter who was a “seasoned veteran” he said, didnt even see it come up in the computer. He said to check back in a few days as he’s going to make some phone calls because he thought it was weird.
