I'm afraid that is the truth. No madness = sadness WAAA #ad
I sent an email to John Holmes since there was some talk that "00 might me the last clambake for us gearheads.
He confirmed that there are no plans for "01.
Lack of support was sited. I believe this is regarding sponsorship. I heard that Dodge significantly decreased their participation financially speaking. Beyond that I'm not sure there is any.

I still hold out hope that a scaled down MM could become a viable replacement. While I understand that some folks enjoy the casino, us hardcore gearheads just need a parking lot or a pasture somewhere since we spend our time under the hoods anyway. Maybe a lightly used air strip. Then we can have grudge match drag racing! #ad
All we need is a place where the RV'ers could line up the 5ers and maybe a few port a potis and were set. We can dispatch a patrol to town for sodas and burgers every 6 hours or so. This would be a low maintenance, grass roots, budget version of MM. I think John said the banquet room ran 5K by itself... don't need it #ad
We'll get by without it and still have fun #ad
We could still have the day at the dealer in town since I don't think that would cost us anything. Maybe we could find a campground nearby to highjack. We could just kick all gas powered vehicles out and take over #ad
It's the law of supply and demand, they have a supply and we demand they hand it over #ad

We could just build a big bonfire in the evening and call it good.

Anybody interested? John said he is willing to help, maybe set up a show n shine event. Just need to take a low profile approach.

HVAC? Did you forget about me up here?
Theres room for drag races and smoke shows... I have 40 sites reserved for camping, hotels and motels just 3 miles away.
Calgary [population over 800,000] is 40 minutes away.

IF theres a few folks wanting to do this... I have the space here and theres propane, diesel and food.

Well, if you have food then that's different, when do we EAT??? #ad

Actually my idea was to just assemble in Minden, then load all the Rams and 5ers on a train and rail up to good old Canada. By the time we get there we will be BOMBed! #ad

any chance of a large get together in June instead of May? I would and I bet alot of others with kids still in school would attend a June get together for camping and a bonfire. We need to get our kids involved in these BOMBing Mission. just my 2 cents

I agree with Heaterexpert, we need to start training the next generation. Beside that, family get togethers are great!(our TDR family)

Any idea where this event will be held?

Robert Patton and DC are more interested in one day events spread across the country. More exposure for DC, etc. Well, we could do that a few places like the Dyno Day we had in Escondido and the one planned for Ls Vegas.

Meanwhile, a number of folks said they would be willing to pay the $100 that MM really costs, and not rely on DC at all. Lets float that trial balloon right now, and if enough interest is found, lets contact John Holmes and see if he would be willing to have open preregistration until some date like Nov or Dec, and if enough folks ante up their $100 by then, then MM 01 would be a "go. "
This event has a long history and is popular. I would like to see it continue.

I am open to June... we will have to pinpoint the date soon so I have the campground confirmed. Thats if folks are interested in coming up here.
Also, I would like to see an all brand RV and truck get together. Maybe I'll get moderated for saying that?

Feedback?

Yeah,I want to head to the north. Need to work on my Canadian. Where's the brew,eh?
Hey,now I might blend right in. Seriously though,I'll take the trip up there next summer. Just say when.

On the MM thing... I'll be more than happy to pay the registration, but I still want it to be a weekend event. My vacation time($) is used to visit my folks and family, not truck shows.

JD. . $$100. 00 no problem here. [I'm in]. . make sure the dates are at least three weeks apart between Scotts event. . that way folks could attend both if so desired. .

The thing that kept me away from MM this year was the in the week date. Just couldn't afford to take that many days off work. $100 wouldn't be a big hairy deal. The real cost is the expenses involved with other things. Coordinating it with whatever contract I'm working on at the time is usually the problem for me. A scaled down event is fine. I get a bigger kick out of yaking about trucks and showing mine off than the events.

Canada is fine for me, the family wants to visit there anyway. I think we still need an event closer but it will be hard to replace MM.

Heatexpert... under two hours straight west to Banff through Calgary... I was thinking of a drive up there for one of the days and come back for an Alberta Beef BBQ afterwards.

I am with HVAC waaaaa. I would love to see May Madness continue. No problem with the $100. 00 here. I am sure that the event could be cut down by a day or two and still be a success.

I'd pay a $100 but I don't think that much is necessary. And a shorter event would be welcome. I rally am interested in the technical stuff and the vendors. The Timberline Dodge shindig was just perfect. I could pass on the lunches and dinners, - I think they take up the time and cost a bunch. I'd buy my TDR T-shirt. I would have liked for each rep to have more time on the podium

See page 94 of the latest TDR, John Holmes says to let the TDR and/or Jim Holden, president of Daimler Chrysler know how we all feel regarding the continuation of May Madness as it has been in the past. Lets tell them what we think!!!!

I would have no problem paying more if needed. Downsizing to 3 days instead of 4 wouldnt affect the event either. Not to start any arguments, but I thought the idea for any event was based on what the members wanted. I can understand Robet Pattons few point in that the logistics are more involved in any long running event. To hear that DC would prefer a smaller event doesnt mean anything to me. For the simple fact that this is a member based operation not a corporate. I belong to this club because of the members and their knowledge not be because of DC.

I would support another "May Madness" in either Nv or Cn. The last one turned out to be rather expensive but that is another story
Actually I can't complain about John's recommendation for the local Lawyer as he did get the job done. Count me in for either destination.
