Hey guys, i need your help. Transmission was rebuilt 2 weeks ago, and it's been great until yesterday. I picked up a trailer, drove it to a jobsite and threw it in park. However, it was actually reverse. Shifter is in the park position, but neither the truck or gear indicator were. Shift lever moves freely down to 2nd position on indicator, then drive engages a bit further. Theres tons of slack in the shifter. Took it straight to the transmission shop, where the guy told me that the linkage bushings were a bit sloppy, which i knew they were before the rebuild, but everything was ok down there, and the bushings were not the problem. I took off the covers for the steering column, the dash, and the knee bolster. I could barely see where the shift lever connects to the shaft, but realized the problem was in the connection between the two. Can anyone give me some info, whats wrong, part #'s, can i do it myself, how many things do i have to take off to get to it? Any ideas MUCH appreciated. Also, should this be the transmission guy's problem???? Thanks!!

Just an opinion. The transmission guy was paid to rebuuild the transmission. He probably should have noted the bushings and offered to fix them for more $$, but, it worked for another year and the parts he charged you to fix are working.

Wish I could help with bushings, however, I do not have a parts book.
