My truck has been in the shop waiting for a new transmission on warranty for 5 weeks today. Still no ETA. When I make my weekly call they just say still no word from DC on when I can expect a replacement. Take care of your nv5600 because I don't think DC cares to much about replacement transmission's!

I think a G56 will bolt in place of an NV5600 (same adaptor plate), but the flywheel needs to be replaced.

As far as I know the NV5600 is out of production, so it's unlikely a replacement will ever be available unless another automaker decides to start using them.

that's rediculous that they don't support their product like that... this is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen IMHO.

I've got a 4500 in the garage that is getting built w/ a fully splined main and billet input as my backup for when/if I have probs w/ my 5600 :(

hmm, i think i should get myself a spare 5600... i wonder if the local wreckers has one for cheap? [maybe they don't know it is no longer avalable]

Replace with a G56 and what IF the truck needing a trans is a 4. 10 geared? A 4x4 with 4. 10s?They gonna do front and back regear? Parts and trannys should have been in inventory!

it's BS because OEM's are required to support their product for a certain amount of time even AFTER warranty expires... if there was any organization behind this, it could be a class action lawsuit for real

What is wrong with your NV5600? I havent heard of any problems.

Both Blumenthal and Standard Transmission & Gear should have a NV5600 in stock. Call both of them up and see what they got.

That's where I got mine, Blumenthals, to replace my blown NV4500. It's gonna cost about $4000. 00  .

I think he's trying to get a free one under warranty... ... ... ... . I see, according to his signature, he's saving the bombs for after the warranty expires.

It sucks, the one thing he counted on has really let him down... ... ... . DC warranty, you gotta love it.

Best do a search, there are all kinds of problems with them, none the least there are no more around!! Thats why I'm getting my original redone after it blew up back in the spring, instead of handing it in for a core. THERE ARE NONE TO BE HAD ANYMORE GUYS!!!! :(

Even though I don't own a gen 3 truck, I still have the 5600 transmission. I plan on installing the Eaton-Fuller FSO-6406A in my gen 2 truck. Granted, I will need to find or have an adapter made for the transfer case, but so be it. I also plan on putting this same transmission in my 82 crew cab conversion. At least I know parts will be around for a long time for this set up.

I don't know the full story but as I understand it the NV5600 situation isn't something you can fully blame on D/C. What I heard was New Venture decided to pull the plug on the NV5600 for whatever reason and kinda left D/C scrambling. . . . hence the G56. That's why there's not really any NV5600s around anymore and why it's pretty tough to warranty. How can they support it if the supplier can't provide it anymore?

Easy. Order 2-300 at the end of production and keep for warranty.

They will have to make at least replacement parts, if not complete trannies.

The specs for that Eaton-Fuller are the following: 1st-7. 05, 2nd-4. 13, 3rd-2. 52, 4th-1. 59, 5th-1. 00 and 6th-. 78. Reverse is 6. 75. It is synchronized in all forward gears, weighs 356 lbs, 25. 6 inches long, standard SAE #2 housing (aluminum), PTO on both sides, 19. 5 pt oil capacity and in the literature, it says it is only rated up to 660 lbs of torque. I wonder how close in size this transmission and the 5600 are?

What are our 5600's rated up to for torque? I doubt I will see that much in my 02, but the 82 may. My goal for the 02 is 300 hp and around 550 for torque and then the 82 will be around the same area.
