"OK" I'm a sceptic I just saw this add about this FS-2500 oil filter produced or distributed by this company FILTRATION SOLUTIONS WORLDWIDE located at 230A North Monroe,Olathe, KS, 66061,Pnone # 1-888-440-9056, Web site www.fs2500.com in my new Diesel Power mag.

I always thought that most of the engine wear was due to start up ( dry engine turning over) and that a filter with lots of materal or say low microns didn't let the oil pass that well at start up thus more wear on the engine in the long run. I don't care about changing the oil every 3,000 miles as long as my truck is lubricated right at start up with just a stock filter or higher micron's.

Has someone installed this filter system on their truck that's on this board?.

There's no single filter replacement for the stock full flow *I* would trust by itself in extended service - but extended drains ARE commonly done with both synthetics and regular dino-based oils along with bypass oil filters - and in some cases, the oil is as good after 20-30K miles as when it came outta the container:

Use a good full flow filter, AND a good bypass, and get the best of BOTH worlds! :) Oo.

The FS2500 is a bypass filter system I have 6000 miles on mine so i can't tell what the results will be yet. I replaced the Frantz with the 2500 because I didn't like changing the filter every 2000 miles, with the 2500 it's every 10,000 miles only time will tell. The 2500 is not cheep.

The trick in bypass filtration is a balance between filtering capability and life of the filter element. USUALLY, longer life in a filter element comes at the price of particla size filtering ability, all things being equal as to filter size.

Yes, it WILL be interesting to see how your next analysis comes out, compared to similar ones with the Frantz - keep us posted...

how expensive is this gizzmo lightman?

i went with fleetgard stratapore as my full flow and amsoil bmk-11 ($120) as my bypass system with an amsoil be-110 (2 quart filter @ $25 a pop) as my bypass oil filter.

i'm shooting to change the full flow filter every 15k

change the bypass filter every 30k

and change the oil every 60k

(well, at least that is my pipe dream)

i intend to do analysis in between filter changes

i steered clear of the amsoil dual bypass because it is NOISEY on the cummins and i don't like buying all those inflated filter products from amsoil - i figure they've got me good enough.

i also installed the amsoil precharger to combat "dry" start-ups - i'll be able to report on this product when i'm an old man.

the amsoil bmk-11 that i installed is in parrelel with the entire oil system vice in series with the system -- meaning, the bypass filter has no effect on impeding oil delivery on initial start up as it is not in-line with the primary oil path (it filters at a lesser rate off to the side - where as all the oil goes through the path in the amsoild dual bypass system) for me, dual bypass (in series filtering) is not the smartest approach

A stock third gen goes 14,000 miles according to the servive manual. I change mine every 5k, it's easy to remember.

I've recently installed the Oilguard bypass system. Much less expensive than the fs2500. Don't know which is better. Probably good to have either. It was about $280 delivered with 4 filters. I'm not going for extended oil changes, just cleaner oil and peace of mind...

The Amsoil Dual-Remote is NOT a series filter system. The system is designed so the by-pass element only flows about 6 qts per minute, and the Full-Flow is not restricted. The two filter elements are in parallel with each other.

gosh, i feel SO stupid! ;)

I use the FS-2500 on my truck. It has been on for about a year and I am very happy with it. My oil samples come back clean after 10,000 miles!!! The way I look at it $500. 00 is CHEAP if my truck will last a few more years. Its not as much about changing oil less as it is clean oil always running through my engine.
