Is this too good to be true? I took delivery in December 04 of my 05. Have 5,000 miles on it, about half towing a 22 foot travel trailer and the engine dipstick still says full! The oil has gotten blacker. I'm sure I'm checking the engine, not the transmission#ad
. Is this possible or am I leaking fuel into the oil?

I doubt it's out of the ordinary - our '02 started life as a RV puller, and has never used oil from day one, even tho' it was towing almost from the day it left the dealer's lot...

Naw... . my 04 has 115K pulling a large trailer... always over 18K trailer weight..... and I go oil change to oil change about 7500 miles and use less than 1/2 qt..... These are nice engines... .

No oil consumption is normal for a CTD. If it was a Ford or Chevy, it would mean that you have replaced the oil that was used with fuel.

As a former Ford 7. 3 owner, this was my concern.
I keep liking the CTD more and more every day!

:) The only time I ever added oil to any of my engines is when the 94 had a leak on the injection pump. A new seal solved that. They may drop a smigden towards the end of a oil change cycle and than it is time to change.

mines a 99 with 86k... ... I NEVER add a drop, the oil level never moves from change to change... ... but I do change mine @ every 3,000 Faithfully.

Ditto. With my 1996 or my 2003. As time passes and yours get mileage on the odometer, your oil will stay clean for a longer time. Exhaust too, unless you Bomb :-laf Dan

Ps: get a secondary oil filter (Amsoil is my choice).

According to my 03 owners manual it says to add oil only when oil level is at add mark or below=2 quarts. Mine will stay on full mark until 3K miles and between 3K and 5K, 5k being my change interval it will drop off full mark maybe a half pint or pint (just guessing on that amount). I have never had to add any between change intervals though.
