Archived No Oil Pressure

Started the truck up this morning and pressure gage never came up and "check gages" light stayed on. I shut the truck off and tried again. Pressured up as usual, but then went to 0 later. When I shut my truck I can pop my hood and hear oil draining back to the pan. Is there a easy way to tell if my oil presure sensor is gone? I went ahead and drove . 75 miles to church and back and everything seemed to be going alright. (EGT, water temp etc. ) I did check and there's plenty of oil.

I'd bet it was the sensor. Seems to be quite common. Happened to me on my '99 at 90k. Trip to Cummins and a new sensor took care of it. Either a 32 mm or 34 mm socket to get the old one out and the new one in. It's just below the fuel filter, near the ECM.

Do yourself a favor and put on a aftermarket gauge they will never lie

It's probably nothing to worry about. This TSB could be the problem.

DO NOT DO THE TSB that makes the gauge into an idiot light. Get a new sensor at your local cummins parts counter.

If you truck has oil in it the oil press is fine, my service manager said he has never seen a cummins without oil pressure.
