HELP!!!

My brother in law just called me wondering why he lost oil pressure this morning. He was driving home when the check engine light came on the oil pressure gage was at 0. He has a 2001 24V with an edge box and about 60,000 miles. The only code given is P1693. Where is the sending unit located? The truck seems to run fine. It has oil. Now when I turn the key on, the gage goes to 60 and then drops to 0 before I even start the truck. Once it's started, it never moves.

There's been alot of discussion on this. The dealer will perform a re-flash that can fix the balky gauge, but then the gauge never reads below a certain point. Sometimes a new sending unit will fix it. When mine quits I'm going to replace it with a good after market unit.

Just had the same problem with my 1999 2500 this morning. I had unplugged my edge ez box and thought I had put the stock wire back on correctly. Pop the hood and check the wire that connects to the back right side of the block. The plug should snap back on when connected correctly. My dash showed check guages, water in fuel and chech engine light. everything is fine now. hope this makes sense to you.

HANDWRITTEN # 190709 <-----I have no idea what this means but it was written in marker on the box.

It's definitely the sending unit; however, Cummins now sells a replacement for $8, but you need a new harness for $12, and 1/2 hour labor ($44. 50)at their place to install and re flash the ECM for this new model. I'm having it done Monday. Still beats the $180 the S..... I mean the dealer wants to charge!!!

Thanks for the help.

Brad

PS. I was in really deep with this one because my brother in law has been a die hard Chevy owner all his life until he got this Dodge, under my recomendation!!
