I was washing my truck, when all of a sudden the parking brake released! luckily I had it in gear, otherwise it would have probably been bad news! the pedal goes to the floor, and underneath, I can pull the cables. There is alot of slack... where should I start? at the pedal end or the drum end?? someone help!

Parking brakes

With the parking brake pedal released and at the top, pull on the cables under the truck and have someone depress the parking brake. If nothing moves, the problem is with the parking brake pedal or the cable going to it. If the cables moce, problem is in one of the rear cables/drums. bg

It appears as if it is in the driver side drum... how hard is this to fix?? I am sure it will be a PITA, so I am not scared of that part. . just need to get it fixed!!!

Fix

Hard to say, might be the cable broken, might be a keeper came off, if it is something loose inside the drum, you need to get it corrected before it does more damage. bg

Chris,

Well, what was it? Inquiring minds want to know. (It's how I learn about my truck. )

Glad to hear it's fixed.
