Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) no plate

I am trying to figure out what direction I want my truck to go so I have been experimenting. I took my #5 plate out to see what a #0 plate would be like. Well it did not smoke very much and had no kick (was not aggressive like my #5). Anyone have any ideas why?
