i did a search and did not find quite what i was looking for. i have a 95 auto with a 6, afe, and 3 k kit, every once in a while i take it to the local 1/8 mile track (current fastest 9. 90 at 68) now by removing the plate i know i will have full fuel and full rack travel, now i dont plan to do this for daily driving, but by removing it will it be possible to shave a little more time off, and drop my friends jaws just a little more. just for like 3 or 4 passes. thanks alot

I have been plateless for the last 8-10k miles and would not think of going back! a valet type product (electric afc adjuster) helps a bunch for the times somone else has to drive or you dont want to smoke out the pipe.

I would take your stock fuel plate, and grind it down so you effectivly have a 0 plate. The problem is you are running WOT all the time without that plate. I would worry about sheering off the rack stop. Some people swear it won't happen, but if it happens to one person(it has) that's one to many in my book. No you can't just fix the rack stop, you have to get the pump rebuilt. A 0 plate is much much cheeper than a rebuilt pump.

yeah i have heard of that problem i just thought just to make a couple of passes down the track it wouldnt hurt, well is there any other cheap ways to lower a 1/8 ets as my truck is right now thanks again.

The best way to cut E. T. 's is to improve your traction and your launch. More horsepower doesn't hurt, though. :)

I went plateless for a LONG time until I made my first pass down the 'strip at Thunder in Muncie '03. :D With the tight convertor... the pump didn't like not having much of anything except for the governor controlling the rack and it popped out of gear twice as a result.

Before I drag raced on that Sunday... I hooked to the weight sled the night before. I found out that running without a plate (or AFC) doesn't work so well for sled pulling either. :-laf

With rack travel - you reach a point of diminishing returns... where too much of it isn't doing much of anything but waste fuel.

1. 9 short times are pretty darn good for such a heavy truck...

Try taking your plate out... . it's free... . maybe you'll see better performance, maybe you won't.
